This gallery features a kindergarten student’s Sunflower Growth Observation Journal. The student is visually impaired and not yet able to write independently, so the journal was completed through verbal dictation. The student shared detailed observations aloud each week, and the entries were recorded using speech-to-text tools and organized into a journal while preserving the student’s natural voice and wording.
During the experiment, the student helped measure the plants with guided support and received reminders for daily plant care. He participated fully in observing, comparing, and discussing how different conditions—sunlight and water—affected the growth of each sunflower.
This journal documents the student’s early scientific thinking, including observation, prediction, reflection, and understanding of plant needs. It provides an accessible and developmentally appropriate way for him to demonstrate learning and engagement in hands-on science.
