Professional Experience
Mathina brings more than 20 years of experience supporting children, teens, adults with disabilities, and families across educational, residential, and community settings. Her background includes work in group homes, psychiatric youth programs, foster care, early childhood education, and medical support roles. These experiences shaped her trauma-informed, compassionate, and flexible approach to teaching.
Highlights of her experience include:
- Supporting youth with behavioral, emotional, and trauma-related needs in residential programs
- Case management and life-skills coaching for adults with disabilities
- Foster parenting children ages 0–15, including adopting her oldest daughter
- Operating a play-based, early learning childcare program
- Providing patient-centered care as a dialysis technician for 14 years
- Founding and directing Vibrant Minds Microschool, a mastery-based K–12 learning environment
